Michael Ciani crucial goal for next session

Olympiakos 0

Bordeaux 1
- Michael Ciani (44)

**Bordeaux took a crucial advantage over Olympiakos in their Champions League last-16 clash after claiming a 1-0 victory at the Karaiskakis Stadium.

The visitors scored the winner on the stroke of half-time when Yoann Gourcuff whipped in a dangerous free-kick and centre-half Michaël Ciani timed his run to perfection to nod home from six yards.

In the second half, neither side was particularly dominant but for Bordeaux it was enough to defend their narrow lead and take a big step in the direction of the quarter finals.

The second leg in this Round of Sixteen clash will be played in Bordeaux on March 17.
