Tim Cahill scored again for Everton

Wigan Athletic 0

Everton 1
- Cahill 84

Everton could have taken the lead in the third minute but Leon Osman was unable to control his shot properly after being teed up by Landon Donovan.

Steven Pienaar then tried his luck from the edge of the box after Louis Saha's lay-off but the South African saw his effort deflected over.

A late Tim Cahill header sealed victory for Everton at Wigan and extended the team's unbeaten run in the Barclays Premier League to nine matches.

Cahill, who has rediscovered some of his best form in recent weeks, The Toffees had a genuine goal in the 84th minute from a Baines corner. Cahill made an excellent run towards the front post and lost his marker, with a magnificent spring he met the ball at the top of his jump and powered his header low into the left-hand corner: 1-0 to Everton.
